I’d like to shape and construct fiberglass surfboards (not epoxy) in the near future here in Huntington Beach, CA. But, a friend told me the other day that he heard there are a lot of zones that don’t allow it here. Is that true? If so, can you guys suggest a website where I could find out exactly where? Thank you for taking time to read this.

“Stepping Stone” Funboard

$390.00

The “Stepping Stone” epoxy funboard is a performance mini-longboard featuring our “Stable Surf System” designed to paddle easily and make quick turns, while maintaining the width of a longboard. Its design allows it to perform much like a mini-longboard, however it is known for being a much ÒlooserÓ surfboard that turns quickly and carves easily. Maintain your stability on this board due to its wide shape, making paddling a breeze, and more importantly your pop ups on waves will feel solid and strong!Epoxy construction gives you a strong platform that is ding resistant, while staying lighter than your traditional construction, keeping you floating great and paddling fast.Thruster fin setup gives you classic turning and performance while the V concave bottom gives you greater speed and drive down the line. This allows you to not only turn great, but it will make those smaller days a breeze to stand up.After surfing this funboard for just a short time, you will know why it has the name Òfun board.Ó It is a blast to ride! This surfboard is ideal for the smaller surfer just getting started, or a great transition surfboard for a surfer wanting to move down from a longboard to a shortboard but not ready for that big change in board length.

“The Pivot Fish”, named because of the pivot type turns you get from the board instead of rail to rail, is a quad fin retro fish surfboard… Wide, Stable, and FAST. The ultimate wave catching, quick turning surfboard. The fish surfboard is a one of the most unique designs when it comes to Òwave catch-ability.Ó This board maintains the width of a mini-longboard, but is much smaller in length. This helps maintain your stability while making it a cinch to paddle for a board this short.Nose V concave to single concave at the tail. Get the best of all worlds with this combination of designs. The “V” will help you turn quickly while the “single” at the tail is designed to channel water off the rails allowing you to generate speed and make some killer cut-backs. The quad fin setup is much quicker and faster than the twin fin setup typical of a “retro” fish so hold on while you race down the line.Add Epoxy EPS construction to the mix and you have a surfboard you can’t pass up…Epoxy construction makes this fish surfboard lighter and stronger than a traditional glass construction fish. This makes the surfboard float better, paddle better and virtually indestructible (it’s not really indestructible but pretty close). The Pivot Fish surfboard is perfect for the intermediate surfer, or someone who wants to move from a long board down to a short board.

COLORS TO CHOOSE FROM: AQUA, BLUE, RED, YELLOW (we will contact you immediately reguarding your choice of colors!)
First, They are real surfboards with a softer surface, but not super soft, to make it user friendly but they look just like a fiberglass surfboard. Most beginners and kids surfboards are very poorly shaped. This effects the way they perform in the surf, making them hard to turn. Surfing is ALL about maneuvering and turning on the waves. A poorly shaped surfboard can’t turn well.

Second, All original Liquid Shredders have full length solid Peruvian hard wood stringers for strength. Surfboards should be rigid and not flex too much. Many of the old technology “sponge” beginner surfboards and kids surfboards bend in the middle as the rider moves on them. This slows the surfboard and makes for an unstable platform for the rider to stand on. NEVER buy a surf board without a wooden stringer system. Surfboards with weak stringers break easily, even in small surf.

Third, Until Liquid Shredder entered the market in 1999, beginner boards were very expensive. In fact, they cost as much as custom fiberglass boards with $500-$1000 retail prices. Liquid Shredder ® hit the market starting at $159. Now you can own a surfboard for beginners and kids that looks and performs like a custom fiberglass board with the added safety of being soft and priced right. Cheap in cost, never in quality!

Fourth, Liquid Shredder is “Made in Peru Where Surfing Was Invented” by Surfers for Surfers . Peru has some of the best surf and surfers in the world. The Beach Boys even mention Peru in their song “Surfin’ Safari”. That’s why every Liquid Shredder model is designed, developed and tested on the Coast of Peru in some of the best and largest surf in the World. Join the Liquid Shredder team and start Shreddin’.

The speed egg/funshape is an easy to learn on shape, while maintaining performance. The slightly hybrid nose combined with a round tail makes it both fast and loose.

When you think of Christmas you naturally think of toys and the best Christmas toys for 2009 are a special concern for parents faced with choosing suitable gifts for their children, whether babies or teens. To make this challenge a whole lot easier for you, here is a list of best selling toys which has been prepared as a result of research conducted with large retail stores.

As the most popular toys vary according to the age group, a number of stand-out items has been selected across the range of ages. These are sure to make your children jump with excitement.

1. Razor E100 Electric Scooter
Great for zipping over to a friend’s house or even to school. This little whiz can reach up to 10 mph which is fast enough to be useful but not enough to cause trouble. The re-chargeable battery is able to keep the rider moving for up to 40 minutes. It is light and easy enough to carry over difficult spots.

2. Ripstik Caster Board
Crosses a skateboard with a snowboard to provide a thrilling experience. It has a pivoting deck and caster trucks which are 360 degrees inclined. Change direction by shifting weight, just as you would with a board on the slopes.

3. Mountain Bike for Boys and Girls by Pacific Evolution.
This is a bike that’s tough enough to handle trails as well as uneven urban streets. It is suitable for beginners. A special front suspension fork helps to make the ride smoother when faced with obstacles. The girls’ version is styled a little differently but still has a steel frame which absorbs rough riding.

4. Apple iPod Touch (3rd Generation).
This is multi-functional and is great as an iPod, a portable game player and as a pocket computer. They can even watch a movie on it, check email, find street directions, surf the web, or listen to favorite music. It is designed to work straight out of the box.

5. SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8 GB Video MP3 Player
For a specialized music player, it’s hard to go past this one – and it looks great, too. It can accommodate up to 2,000 songs. As a break, listen to any of the 40 preset FM stations, take notes with the voice recorder, or listen to recordings of books and lectures. The battery is good for 24 hours of play.

6. Rainforest Melodies & Lights Deluxe Gym – Fisher-Price.
A treat for babies who can crawl, there are lights and melodies in a rainforest setting. It stimulates baby action and helps develop co-ordination and curiosity while entertaining and calming the child.

7. Scientific Explorer’s Spa Science Chemistry Kit.
This is a fun activity that is suitable for both boys and girls. For instance, the bath can be a playground of color and fragrance. Kids are able o make gels, bath fizzers, spa lotions, shampoos, bath balms and more. They’ll delight in mixing fragrances and other potions in the bathtub. It’s also a great way to get girls interested in science.

8. Dora The Explorer Links Doll – Fisher-Price.
Dora the Explorer is not just any doll. She can be linked to a computer which gives her access to an online world that involves her in solving mysteries, cleaning up the community, helping friends, and more. The doll is transformed as the girls engage in the online activities. There are changes to the doll – including speech, eye and jewelry color – that match the changing situations.

9. Underwater 48-Piece Floor Puzzle – Melissa & Doug.
This is a gorgeous jigsaw puzzle with 48 pieces set in a blue-and-green ocean floor background. The marine life is colorful and weirdly shaped. It includes a crab, octopus, fish and coral. Puzzlers will build matching skills and dexterity. The pieces are large and easy to clean.

10. 6 ft Piano Mat
Have an orchestra on your living room floor. The keyboard lies flat in the style of a floor mat and is able to provide the sounds of a piano, xylophone, guitar, saxophone, and more. It also has a demo mode that shows how to use the different features. Players are able to play their own compositions and also record and play them back. Mozart never had it so good!

In Surfer’s Code: 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life, world champion surfer Shaun Tomson shares the life lessons he’s gathered from decades of surfing-from his boyhood adventures in South Africa to the world tour in the late 1970s to the business world today. For Tomson, surfing is a hobby, a sport, a religion, an obsession and more-it is a way of life. Tomson’s life lessons have guided his career to the top of both professional competition and the world of business. Now, he shares these powerful lessons, born on the world’s best swells, with all people-including those who might never step on a surfboard. These lessons are born of the collective wisdom of the surf community and are a powerful source of inspiration in the face of extraordinary challenges of every day life.

Fed up with suburban teenage life, Jaimal Yogis ran off to Hawaii with little more than a copy of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha and enough cash for a surfboard. His journey is a coming-of-age saga that takes him from communes to monasteries and the icy New York shore. Equal parts spiritual memoir and surfer’s tale, this is a chronicle of finding meditative focus in the barrel of a wave and eternal truth in the great salty blue.

This action-packed documentary takes you back to the winter of 1975 in hawaii – a dramatic moment in history when a group of young south african & australian surfers sacraficed everything. They put it all on the line to create a sport a culture & an industry that is today wirth billions of dollars. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 01/13/2009 Starring: Narrated By Edward Norton Run time: 95 minutes Rating: Nr In the early 1970s, Australian chargers Mark Richards, Peter Townend, Ian Cairns, and Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew landed in Oahu with something to prove. Hawaii was seen as the center of the surfing universe and the brash Aussies sought to shake things up. Along with South Africans Shaun and Michael Tomson, the crew ripped apart legendary breaks like Pipeline and Waimea with radical innovations and bravery that bordered on insanity. Combining classic footage and revealing modern-day interviews, Bustin’ Down the Door exposes the soul of this revolutionary period in a way few surf films can. The ground-breaking talents of MR and Co. are rightfully lauded for helping to build the concept of professional surfing, yet no excuses are offered for the reckless arrogance that helped ignite a powder keg of cultural pride on the North Shore. The self-promoting Australians were not shy about their talents, but by the time Cairns declared that “Aloha is dead” during the summer of ‘75, competitive banter had dangerously escalated beyond the waves. But what the group lacked in diplomacy, they made up for in determination, as their shared desire to be the best gave rise to a new era of surfing. –Dave Callanan

Ok, when we were kids, the terms PC or Home Computer or even Laptop where not words yet. A computer in the home? The thought of that was absurd. The computers would never fit. They were huge.

Now a day the retirees are more and more become internet surfers. They are finding out that they can surf, buy, read the new and many other things on the internet. Many major grocery chains even have at home delivery. One can simply order online their food and have it delivered to their front door.

By learning the internet from a young person you may have some hard times understanding their terminology. Take time and enroll in a class. They are there and better to help you with your learning. Many youngsters get impatient with older people, they don’t understand that it’s like a fish out of water to many.

Don’t hesitate to surf the internet and read all your “HELP” categories with your programs you purchase for your computer. If you bought a Word program for typing, or maybe you are writing a book, read the help and don’t be afraid of making errors. It happens to the best of us.

The books at books stores are vast on intro to computers and if you want a book that is an aid for you the series of “FOR DUMMIES” books are the best. The will point you in the right direction and foremost and the most important thing, don’t hesitate to ask the people at the book store some questions too.

Kaito-San says please be generous and allow other surfers catch some waves too. Includes 2 removable 8″ longboard-style fins (paddle not included).
The Seared Ahi has a great feel, catches waves effortlessly and is extremely maneuverable. Works in knee high slop to overhead+ waves. Perfect for surf trips. If you can only take one board, this one is it. The quad fin setup makes it very versatile and allows you to progress your surfing even more. When you first start out, put the larger pair of fins on the back towards the tail. This will keep it more stable. Once you have the board dialed up, move the larger fins to the front and you’ll feel like you’re riding a whole new, more maneuvarable board!

$9.80

In his long-awaited memoir, Yvon Chouinard—legendary climber, businessman, environmentalist, and founder of Patagonia, Inc.—shares the persistence and courage that have gone into being head of one of the most respected and environmentally responsible companies on earth. From his youth as the son of a French Canadian blacksmith to the thrilling, ambitious climbing expeditions that inspired his innovative designs for the sport’s equipment, Let My People Go Surfing is the story of a man who brought doing good and having grand adventures into the heart of his business life—a book that will deeply affect entrepreneurs and outdoor enthusiasts alike.Like the carefully engineered dies which created his company’s first products–steel pitons and carabiners which climbing enthusiasts would recognize as primitive forerunners of today’s sleeker gear–Yvon Chouinard is if nothing else an original. How many other shy French-Canadian boys become surf-and-climbing bums, then blacksmiths forging their own play tools, and eventually founders of world-renowned sports equipment and apparel companies like Patagonia? How many other heads of multi-million dollar enterprises open their memoirs by stating bluntly, “The Lee Iacoccas, Donald Trumps, and Jack Welches of the business world are heroes to no one except other businessmen with similar values. I wanted to be a fur trapper when I grew up.” The proverbial mold from which Chouinard was cast got broken. In Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman, readers get a fascinating look inside the history and philosophy of both Patagonia and its irascible, opinionated founder. From its beginning, the book shares a sense of Chouinard’s strong-willed personality and his love of the outdoors. He recounts a mostly happy childhood spent in a still-unspoiled southern California, climbing, diving, fishing, and surfing. The narrative soon moves into Chouinard’s early entrepreneurial efforts, which were less focused on market-share domination than on earning a basic living to finance his own sporting habits. As his company’s first catalog noted, delivery could be slow in the summer months, when Chouinard typically left the “office”–a dilapidated shack converted into an ironworks–for climbing adventures across the American West. Eventually, though, the story settles into a pattern familiar to business audiences: Patagonia grows rapidly, takes on more employees and product lines to sustain hungry demand from customers, but overreaches with over-ambitious expansion plans and suffers a hiccup in its adolescence. This make-or-break juncture of a business’s development often contains the most interesting material, and here Chouinard and his beloved company are no exception. He describes a series of wrenching decisions through which he and Patagonia management team navigated in 1991, as sales growth stalled while capital and operational expenses sprinted ahead. From this crisis emerged Patagonia’s first-ever layoffs, affecting a hefty 20% of the workforce, and a serious re-examination of the business’s core principles and methods. The historical part of Chouinard’s book largely ends at this point, and gives way to an exposition of philosophies which emerged at Patagonia during its dark moments in the early 1990s. The rest of the book serves as a kind of primer to business, the Patagonia way: one chapter each on product design philosophy, production philosophy, distribution philosophy, image philosophy, financial philosophy, human resource philosophy, and so on. Fans of Patagonia can revel in the company’s working details, as can those who support or want to build businesses with self-consciously cultivated soulfulness. Readers who enjoyed Gary Erickson’s story about Clif Bar, for example, should definitely find this a welcome addition to their bookshelves. –Peter Han

Still the ultimate surf film of all time! The definitive surf movie, this 1966 documentary by Bruce Brown is beautifully shot and thrilling to see in its portrait of youthful freedom on the world’s shores. Brown followed two surfers around the globe in their quest for the perfect wave, finding it eventually on a remote beach far from home. The narration by “Big Kahuna Brown” cuts through the reverence a bit, being cheeky in tone. –Tom Keogh

Have you ever wondered where waves come from? What makes every one different, why some peel nicely and others just close out? Why, some days, waves come in sets of six and others in sets of three, and what factors affect the behavior of a surfing break? If you have, this book is for you. Now in its second edition, Surf Science is the first book to talk in depth about the science of waves from a surfer’s point of view. It fills the gap between surfing books and waves textbooks and will help you learn how to predict surf. You don’t need a scientific background to read it–just curiosity and a fascination for waves.

From the makers of THE ENDLESS SUMMER, STEP INTO LIQUID takes us from the terrifying monstrous waves of Oahu’s North Shore to the Texas waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the shores of Ireland and Rapa Nui. Told through the voices of legends, pros, and everyday surfers alike, it is not just a film for surfers, but for anyone with an appreciation for sport and an inkling of what it means to be “stoked.”Thanks to Dana Brown’s delightful Step Into Liquid, the surfing scene in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, should get a healthy boost. That’s because Brown, in the tradition of his father, filmmaker Bruce Brown (The Endless Summer), has captured dazzling images of surfers riding curls in some of the world’s most exotic–and sometimes unlikely–places. Besides the action on Lake Michigan, Brown leads us to Costa Rica, where the sport’s senior elite (including Summer star Robert August) prove they still have the moves, and Oahu’s North Shore, where the legendary Pipeline inspires this quote: “It’s so scary, maybe you die a little.” Most entertaining is a segment in County Donegal, where the American Malloy brothers startle the locals and meet their Irish counterparts on the grayest ocean imaginable. Great personal stories here, including the tale of Northern California’s Dale Webster, who has never missed a day on the waves in 30 years. –Tom Keogh

In 1965, Ron Stoner was the best surf photographer in the business. Every month, he shot the balmy beaches, bikini-clad girls, and achingly beautiful waves of Southern California for Surfer Magazine. Then, at the height of his fame, Ron Stoner walked off this sunny stage and disappeared forever. In Photo/Stoner, Stoner’s strange story is recounted by surfing historian Matt Warshaw alongside Stoner’s best photos, reproduced as never before. In these rare images, Stoner recorded more than just a beautiful wave or a perfect moment, he captured the effortless and innocent grace of coastal California—pre-condominium. In word and in image, Photo/Stoner is a poignant ode to a lost era, and a lost man.
